About us
STEINBAUER Performance
Our founder and hands on CEO Herbert Steinbauer started STEINBAUER in the basement of his house in Linz, Austria.

In the beginning, STEINBAUER developed, produced and sold pressure box modules for passenger cars; so when we say we know how cheap these are to make and how limited the electronics are, trust us, we know first hand.

Herbert decided early on that there was a limited future in pressure-box technology. He started on the concept for an intelligent Plug n' Play device centered around the injection system...
Fast forward three years and, in 1999 we manufactured our first Injection Duration Module, now known as the STEINBAUER PowerModule.
From the beginning we have developed and manufactured all hardware for our PowerModules in-house. This process ensues we maintain full flexibility and functionality of the hardware and are not constrained by third party providers; regarding quality, order quantities and it allows us to be more flexible and react to changes quickly.

In 2015 we began manufacturing 100% of wiring harnesses in-house using a state of the art harness production machine. We added additional machines, including CNC, injection moulding and PIN insertion machine capable of integrating the 'pins' directly into the PCB board.

When people generally think of STEINBAUER, they think PowerModules - PowerModules are at our core, but we are an engineering company that offers and produces a wide range of products, and specializes in customized solutions that involve CANBUS communication.

Kicking Thing Into Higher Gear - 2005 to 2009
Â
If we only had a crystal ball to know what was coming at the end of the decade...
Â
By 2005 STEINBAUER had expanded our dealer network and we were shipping products to over 20 different countries. Our biggest offshore success was our Australian Distributor Diesel Care - with a massive off-road 4WD market STEINBAUER became the Number 1 after market tuning product available in Australia and New Zealand.Â

In late 2005 we added Agricultural and Construction Machinery PowerModule products to our product range. The tuning industry worldwide was steaming ahead, with customers worldwide looking to improve the factory standard of their engines. Then, things took a turn for the worse - the World Financial Crisis stopped Europe and North America in its tracks.
Â
So what did we do? We kicked things up a gear and focused our energy on our USA operation.Â

Stepping Into The Next Decade - 2010 to 2017
Â
With the world in financial turmoil, we focused our energy on our recently established US business. Setting up a dedicated office in Charlotte,NC we hired a team of on-road Sales Managers, re-organized how we did things, and focused on the agricultural industry.Â

In Europe we began looking to the future and looking at new technologies and the desire to move toward a carbon-neutral building and production.
Â
In December 2014 we moved into our new state of the art and environmentally friendly Head Office located just outside on Linz.
Â
In November 2017 we relocated our US office from Charlotte, NC to a property outside of Dowagiac, Michigan.Â
Where to from here? - 2018 and Beyond
Â
The relocation of our United States office to the picturesque countryside of Southwest Michigan was both strategic and practical.Â

Within close proximity to the main midwest farming belt, this location provides us with access to many of our customers within a few hours. The location plays an integral role in continuing to develop and field test our products in real world situations, plus its always nice to take a drive to visit our customers in the field.

Our new Dowagiac office, allow us to host on-site dealer training workshops and welcome students from local colleges to learn about the aftermarket diesel industry.Â
